What exactly is FSSAI License Registration?
FSSAI Registration is the type of registration necessary in India to launch any type of food business. If you continue to operate your business without a valid FSSAI license, you will be fined or imprisoned.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an abbreviation for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. It is in charge of the food quality standards that are made available to the general population. It ensures that food goods are subjected to various quality controls before reaching clients.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is overseen by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India and governed by the Food Safety and Quality Act of 2006.
The FSSAI plays a critical role in ensuring that the Food Business Operator meets all food safety compliance and adherence to standards, allowing consumers to consume food safely, healthily, and in good quality. To start or operate an Indian food business, the food operator must meet all of the requirements for FSSAI licenses and registrations. The FBO must apply for registration, licensing, and registration separately, and must apply for registration or license based on the FBO’s yearly turnover. However, the most common source of ambiguity is whether or not an organization or individual requires an FSSAI license.
Restaurant FSSAI License Registration Types
The FSSAI license is necessary based on the type of operation, the size of the organization, and the revenue earned by the business owner.
The government issues a particular type of license based on the operations of the Food Business Operator. In India, there are currently three types of FSSAI license registration:
Basic FSSAI Registration for Restaurants: Basic FSSAI registration is necessary for food business operators (FBOs) with annual revenue of less than Rs 12 lakhs. Registration is the term used to describe this process. Small food enterprises, such as small producers, retailers, and others, should use this registration.
FSSAI State License Registration for Restaurants: An operator with annual revenue of more than Rs 12 lakhs but less than Rs 20 crore is required to register for an FSSAI State License. It’s appropriate for medium-sized food businesses in general, such as restaurants, movie theatres, significant manufacturers, and so on.
FSSAI Central License Registration for Restaurants: Food industry owners with yearly revenue of more than Rs 20 crore must apply for a Central FSSAI License. This registration is usually reserved for major food firms, such as food processors, distributors, and so on.
