2021 will be full of sports events!
The pandemic of Covid-19 has affected the world since the end of 2019 by forcing the postponement of a significant number of sporting events that were rescheduled for 2021. The Olympic Games, Eurocup and America’s Cup are just some of the most important tournaments that had to reschedule their dates due to the health crisis.
After many talks and discussions, it was decided that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games would be postponed to Summer 2021. The Games were due to start on July 24, but Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and IOC President Thomas Bach agreed the delay of them would be better, to prevent even more the spread of Covid-19. The scheduled date for the sporting event is July 23 next year and it is scheduled to end on Sunday August 8.
Many sports bars are taking bookings for all the latest and upcoming sports events in 2021 and 2022.
The Euro Cup and the Copa América also postponed their tournaments for 365 days. Both events were scheduled to take place between June 12 and July 12. It is now scheduled from June 11 to July 11, 2021. These are undoubtedly the three events that gain the most attention, but they are certainly not the only ones that were rescheduled.
Formula One, the NBA and the MLB were made in 2020 in a very particular way, without spectators and with limited access to their fans. The highest category of motorsports had 17 valid, in several of them they were played twice consecutively in various circuits, the MLB reduced to 60 games. In the meantime, the NBA had promised a full event, but it was executed in Florida with only 22 teams participating.
Major League Baseball (MLB) continues their season in 2021, where they are already in their final phases. In the remainder of the year the entire League Championship Series will be played, beginning on September day and ending on October 24 2021.
The National Football League (NFL) continues with the start of its new season. The NFL calendar features a large number of games in the remainder of this year and in 2022 the new champion or a two-time Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be announced shortly.
Motorcycling has undergone many changes, almost all related to the pandemic. The excitement for MotoGP almost comes to an end this season, having its last three races that remain for the year, which are on October 24, November 7 and November 14.
The organizers hope that everything will return to normal and this is shown by the amount of announcements that have been made for this year so far. 2021 seems promising, but fans have to face the fact that the pandemic is not over, especially in countries of the red list, that are still battling with the virus and have not yet opened their stadiums and sport clubs. That being said, so far in 2021 we have enjoyed many of the most important sporting events in the world, all this after the Covid-19 pandemic lowered its infections and the public has been able to return to normality.
